WHAT TO PACK IN THE DAY BACKPACK FOR THE 7-DAY INCA TRAIL PACKAGE TO MACHU PICCHU
A small backpack (30 to 40L) is highly recommended for day hikes. Larger backpacks are not permitted in Machu Picchu. Your remaining belongings will be stored in your duffel bag at camp.
When planning your Inca Trail 7 Days, be prepared for varied weather. The dry season (May to September) offers sunny days and cool nights, making it the best time for the 7-Day Inca Trail. However, during the rainy season (October to April), expect regular showers and muddy trails. Temperatures can drop significantly at night, especially in the higher altitudes.
Layering is key for the Classic Inca Trail 7 Days. Start with moisture-wicking base layers, followed by a warm mid-layer for chilly mornings and evenings. A waterproof jacket is essential due to unpredictable rain, especially if you’re trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 7 Days during the rainy season. Comfortable, broken-in hiking boots are crucial for navigating the rocky terrain.
The Inca Trail Express 7 Days requires moderate to strong fitness. The trail involves several steep ascents and descents, often at high altitudes. To prepare, try hiking regularly on uneven terrain and work on improving your cardiovascular fitness. Breathing exercises may also help you cope better with the thinner air in the mountains.
Altitude sickness can be a challenge on the Inca Trail guided Tour 7 Days, so acclimatize in Cusco for a couple of days before starting your trek. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and eat light meals to help with altitude adjustments. If you’re prone to altitude sickness, consult your doctor about medication options before starting the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu 7 Days tour.

Due to conservation efforts, only a limited number of people are allowed on the 7-Day Inca Trail Tours each day. Booking well in advance is essential. Additionally, the Inca Trail is closed in February for maintenance. Always respect the environment—stay on marked paths, and avoid disturbing wildlife or archaeological sites along the way.
By keeping these recommendations in mind, your Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 7 Days trek will be both safe and unforgettable!
