DAY 1

Ollantaytambo or Urubamba – Cusipata – Llacto – Rainbow Mt – Llacto – Ollantaytambo or Urubamba

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba. From the Sacred Valley, we travel through spectacular Andean landscapes, passing traditional villages, highland valleys, and panoramic mountain scenery on our way to the trailhead near Rainbow Mountain.

Before starting the hike, we enjoy a hearty breakfast surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Andes, where llamas and alpacas can often be seen grazing across the countryside. After breakfast, we continue to the trailhead and begin our trek through a breathtaking landscape of rolling hills, colorful valleys, and snow-capped peaks.

As we ascend, you’ll be treated to magnificent views of the mighty Ausangate Mountain, the highest peak in the Cusco region and one of the most sacred mountains in Andean culture. Along the trail, you’ll have the opportunity to encounter local Quechua communities and learn about their traditions, lifestyle, and connection to the surrounding mountains.

After approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking, we reach the summit of Rainbow Mountain (5,036 m / 16,522 ft). Here, you’ll have time to take photographs, admire the extraordinary natural colors of Vinicunca, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Andean landscapes.
