Your Andean adventure starts at 4:00 AM when your guide will pick you up from your Cusco hotel. After a 2-hour drive, we’ll arrive in Pitumarca Village to gather supplies, then continue for another hour to the Q’esuyuno community. Along the way, enjoy stunning canyons, Inca farming terraces, rugged mountains, and isolated communities.
Upon arrival, you’ll meet our horsemen and horses. Begin your hike gradually toward Kayrawiry community where we’ll have lunch. After lunch and a brief rest, continue towards Rainbow Mountain. Admire the colorful mountain and its stunning glacial lakes, where you might spot rare vicuñas or condors. Finally, descend to Kayrawiry, where our camping tents will be set up. Enjoy an afternoon tea and dinner.
Wake up early with a hot cup of coca tea to start one of the most memorable days of your trek. Relish the majestic views of high peaks and deep valleys. After breakfast, hike back to Q’esuyuno, then tackle a steep 2-hour climb to Condor Pass at 5100m/16,732ft. Enjoy spectacular views of blue lakes and the imposing Ausangate Glacier Peak.
Occasionally, you may witness avalanches crashing into the lakes below. Once at the summit, soak in the panoramic views of alpacas grazing in the valleys. After enjoying the scenery, descend to our lunch spot. Following a brief rest, hike for 3 more hours to Ausangate Lake, where you can relax with hot drinks during our daily happy hour and settle into our campsite for the night.
After a nutritious breakfast, prepare for another day of hiking. Today’s trek brings you close to the Ausangate Glacier Peaks, with incredible views of lakes and waterfalls. You might spot llamas, alpacas, wild vicuñas, and condors. Ascend for 3 hours to Abra Campo Pass at 5000m/16,404ft, where you’ll find breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Snow may cover the landscape during certain months, but the dry season typically offers clear views. This is a prime spot to see vicuñas, which are among the most valuable wild animals in Peru. After taking some great photos, descend to our lunch spot, followed by a 2.5-hour hike to our campsite in Qampa.
On the final day, we’re ready for one last adventure! Enjoy an early breakfast and begin a 1-hour hike to the glacier base and summit. After soaking in the stunning views of the Vilcanota Range, descend to enjoy a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, continue your descent to Qomer Lake before arriving at Pacchanta after a 5-hour trek. Pacchanta, a small community, is known for its inviting hot springs where you can relax. Afterward, we’ll transport you back to Cusco.

We were able to fully appreciate the region's rich history and scenic splendor during the walk. Great value for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Highly recommended for hikers of all skill levels.Posted on Tripadvisor René LehrerVerified An Unforgettable Journey Through Cusco. Incas Expeditions went above and above! Transportation, lodging, and guiding were excellent, and their staff made everything run smoothly from the minute we arrived in Cusco. Every ruin was brought to life with stories by our guide, who was quite educated about Inca history. Highlights of my trip included the walk to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley excursion. Throughout the entire process, I felt motivated, informed, and safe. Excellently suggested.Posted on Tripadvisor Diego Fernando RVerified Amazing Inca Trail Salkantay Trek tour with friends I booked with my friends the Inca Trail Salkantay Trek tour with a group of friends and it was an experience that changed my way of seeing the Andean tours. The first day we walked around the city of Cusco and started the Inca Trail and camped at night but one of my friends got hurt during the last day in the Salkantay Pass and the guides were ready with their first aid kit and the attention was great! I recommend you to have a good stamina for this kind of multi-day treks. This tourism agency in Cusco is the best for trekking to Machu Picchu, thank you very much Incas Expeditions!Posted on Tripadvisor Arianna OVerified The best travel guide We traveled with our teenage children and chose the short Inca trail with camping because it offered the right balance of adventure and comfort. It was our kids' first time camping and they loved it! The porters and guides were very friendly and always made sure we were ok. The trail itself was breathtaking, especially the views of Wiñay Wayna. At night, we stargazed and shared stories by the tent. I want to thank Incas Expeditions who took care of the logistics and even the food! My family and I will be returning to Cusco in a few months and we are happy to do the tour with you again :)Posted on Tripadvisor Belén LázaroVerified My experience on the Cusco day tour I'm going to tell you about my experience with Incas Expeditions.
