Super Sacred Valley Tour: Discover the Heart of the Andes
Embark on a full-day adventure through the legendary Sacred Valley of the Incas, where breathtaking landscapes and ancient history come together in perfect harmony. The Super Sacred Valley Tour offers an extended itinerary that goes beyond the traditional route — visiting the most iconic archaeological sites and authentic Andean villages in a single unforgettable day.
From the impressive terraces of Pisac, where the Incas mastered agricultural engineering, to the vibrant Pisac Market, filled with colorful crafts and local products, this journey immerses you in the living culture of the Andes. Continue to Ollantaytambo, the last living Inca town, with its monumental stone fortress and narrow cobblestone streets that whisper stories of a glorious past. Then, explore the mystical circular terraces of Moray, believed to be an Incan agricultural laboratory, and the dazzling Maras Salt Mines, a spectacular patchwork of salt ponds still harvested by local families.
Throughout the tour, enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Urubamba River, snow-capped peaks, and traditional Andean communities that keep ancient customs alive. The Super Sacred Valley experience blends history, culture, and nature — the perfect introduction to the spirit of the Andes.
Sites to Visit:
Your adventure begins early in the morning as you leave Cusco behind and ascend toward Chinchero, a picturesque Andean village where the past and present blend seamlessly. Here, you’ll witness traditional weaving demonstrations performed by local women using ancient techniques and natural dyes. The stone streets, colonial church, and Inca walls set the tone for a journey deeply connected to Andean heritage.
Next, continue to the enigmatic Moray, one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley. Its perfectly circular terraces descend into the earth like green amphitheaters — a living testimony to the Inca’s agricultural genius. It is believed that each level created its own microclimate, allowing the Incas to experiment with different crops from across the empire.
A short drive away, the dazzling Maras Salt Mines unfold before you: over three thousand salt ponds shimmering under the sun, cascading down the mountainside in a patchwork of white and gold. This centuries-old tradition of salt extraction continues to sustain local families, offering a breathtaking view and a tangible link to the past.
Then, descend to the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved archaeological complexes in Peru. Walk among colossal stone terraces and narrow cobblestone streets that have witnessed centuries of history. Feel the strength of the fortress that once resisted the Spanish and admire the perfect Inca stonework that defies time.
After a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba, your journey continues to Pisac, the crown jewel of the eastern Sacred Valley. Explore its majestic ruins perched high above the valley, where agricultural terraces curve gracefully along the mountains. Finally, wander through the Pisac Artisan Market, a lively hub of colors, textures, and sounds — the perfect place to connect with local culture and find unique handwoven souvenirs.
As the sun dips behind the peaks and the Sacred Valley glows in golden light, return to Cusco with a heart full of wonder — carrying stories, colors, and memories from a land where the Inca spirit still lives in every stone.
