Premium Salkantay Trek Glamping 4 Days to Machu Picchu

The Premium Salkantay Trek Glamping 4 Days offers a truly exceptional adventure through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Peruvian Andes. Throughout the journey, travelers cross dramatic mountain scenery, descend into lush tropical valleys, and experience environments so striking they feel almost cinematic. This route is considered more demanding than many traditional treks, yet every step is rewarded with extraordinary views, meaningful discovery, and a strong sense of personal achievement. To elevate the experience, each night is spent in comfortable Sky Lodge domes located in Soraypampa and Chaullay, providing a unique combination of adventure and comfort.

The journey begins on the first day with a gradual introduction to the trail, passing through expansive highland fields surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks. The scenery sets the tone for the adventure ahead, offering impressive views while allowing time to adapt to the altitude and terrain.

On the second day, trekkers face the most challenging yet rewarding stage: the ascent to Salkantay Pass. At higher elevations, the thinner air and steady climb test endurance and determination. However, reaching the summit is an unforgettable achievement. Surrounded by towering mountains and breathtaking panoramas, the effort required to reach this point transforms into a powerful sense of accomplishment and awe.

The third day introduces a remarkable change in scenery as the trail descends into warmer and greener landscapes. The rugged mountain terrain gradually gives way to dense vegetation, flowing rivers, and the vibrant atmosphere of the cloud forest. This transition creates a refreshing contrast to the high-altitude environment and offers a new perspective on the region’s remarkable ecological diversity.

By the fourth day, anticipation builds as the journey approaches its final highlight: the majestic Machu Picchu. After days of trekking through diverse landscapes, arriving at this ancient Wonder of the World is a truly memorable moment. The sight of its timeless stone structures set against dramatic mountain backdrops makes every challenge along the way worthwhile.

The Salkantay Trek is more than a path to Machu Picchu—it is a journey of transformation. Each stage reveals new scenery, fresh perspectives, and unforgettable moments, making this one of the most rewarding trekking experiences in Peru.

From Cusco, you will travel by private transportation for about four hours, passing through the towns of Anta and Mollepata before reaching Challacancha, the starting point of the trek. Along the route, you will enjoy impressive views of the snow-capped peaks of Salkantay Mountain and Humantay Mountain, sacred mountains deeply revered in Inca culture. The surrounding landscapes feature dramatic valleys and towering Andean scenery that set the stage for the journey ahead.

After approximately two hours of travel, there will be a brief stop in Mollepata to use restroom facilities, visit small local shops, and enjoy an optional light breakfast. The journey then continues to Challacancha, where you will meet the trekking support team and make final preparations before beginning the hike.

At around 9:30 AM, the trek officially begins toward Soraypampa, the first campsite of the expedition. The trail leads through scenic valleys and along mountain slopes, offering views of traditional irrigation canals still used by local farmers. After approximately three hours of hiking (around 7 km / 4.35 miles), you will arrive at Soraypampa, where a freshly prepared lunch will be served.

Following a short rest, the afternoon continues with a rewarding hike to the stunning Humantay Lake. The reflections of surrounding snow-capped peaks create an unforgettable natural setting and excellent opportunities for photography.

After returning to camp, you will have time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. As evening approaches, the changing light across the valley creates spectacular sunset views. How to Prepare for the 5 day Salkantay trek

Before you start the Classic Salkantay Trek, it’s important to prepare. Spend a few days in Cusco to get used to the altitude. Drink lots of water and don’t push yourself too hard in the beginning. The altitude makes it harder to breathe, and you don’t want to get sick. Take it slow and listen to your body.

Restrictions

Not everyone can do the Salkantay Trek 5 Days. It’s a tough hike, especially because of the high altitude. People with heart problems or breathing issues should talk to a doctor before going. Also, the trail is long and steep in some parts, so it’s not for beginners. You need to be in good physical shape to enjoy it fully.

Tickets to Machu Picchu

After the trek, you’ll need tickets to enter Machu Picchu. It’s a good idea to buy them in advance because they sell out fast, especially during the high season. Some tour packages include the tickets, so ask about that when booking with us.

Most frequent altitudes along different routes

The Salkantay Trek 5 days reaches some very high altitudes. The highest point is Salkantay Pass, which is about 15,000 feet above sea level. After that, the trail goes down into the jungle, where the altitude is lower, around 6,500 feet. The change in altitude is one of the most interesting parts of the trek, but it can also be tough on your body. That’s why it’s important to take your time and rest when you need to.
