DAY 1

SOUTH VALLEY TOUR: TIPÓN, PIQUILLACTA, ANDAHUAYLILLAS

We will pick you up from your hotel at either 9:00 am or 1:00 pm and travel by private van to Andahuaylillas. Here, we will visit the Church of Saint Peter, renowned as the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” Built by the Jesuits at the end of the 16th century, the church features classic colonial architecture with wide adobe walls, an ornate facade, and impressive murals, including the “Assumption of the Virgin” by Esteban Murillo and other works attributed to Luis de Riaño.

Following our visit to the church, we will proceed to the Pre-Inca archaeological site of Piquillacta. This site showcases the extensive urban planning of the Wari culture, set against a backdrop of breathtaking mountains and lakes.

Next, we will travel to the archaeological site of Tipón, renowned for its sophisticated Inca hydraulic systems. We will then return to the village of Tipón, where you can savor a traditional lunch featuring baked guinea pig, a culinary link between ancient Inca traditions and modern Quechua culture. After lunch, we will head back to your hotel in Cusco.
